$5 Turkeys

Mmmm...doesn't that look delicious? (no, I did not cook this turkey) With Thanksgiving just around the corner, we are all looking for good deals on baking ingredients and the main dish - Turkey!

Starting today, Walmart is going to be selling 12lb turkeys for only $5 each. That is a great deal! We aren't going to be in town for Thanksgiving, but I plan on picking one up to use later on in December.

Turkey is a great, easy main dish to make that leaves LOTS of leftovers for our family. (yes, it really is easy! I swear by the Reynold's Turkey Bags. Just follow the directions and wala - you have a moist, yummy turkey in just a couple of hours!)

Prescription Coupon

Update: Kroger would not take this coupon from me for a new prescription! Crazy. This almost never happens.

In this week's Kroger ad, there is a coupon for a $25 gift card with any transferred prescription! It expires on 11/17/09. These are always good to keep on hand. I plan on picking up several Kroger ads the next time I drive past there (which seems to be every hour!).

Remember that these coupons are accepted at Kroger, CVS, and Walgreens! In fact, I always just use them at Kroger. They take them from me even if I haven't transferred the prescription! Of course, with our health issues, I seem to be filling a prescription every week!!

I hope that you all have a fun, safe Halloween night! My "baby" woke me up this morning by announcing that it is finally "REAL Halloween!" I guess he is tired of all the parties held before hand. haha

Remember, starting tomorrow you will be able to get some great deals on candy, decorations, etc! Stick that candy in the freezer for filling stockings...

Menu Planning

Here is my menu for this week. We have a week full of make-up games and my in-laws will be in town. I tried to choose things that are quick and easy! I also take stock of what we already have in the pantry and freezer to use.

Remember that making your menu is the first step to really saving money on your grocery bill.

Monday - Chili, crackers, Caesar salad
Tuesday - Spaghetti, salad
Wednesday - Chicken roll-ups, fruit
Thursday - Honey pork chops, broccoli, rice (we didn't end up eating these last week)
Friday - Black bean burgers, baked potatoes
Saturday - Papa Murphy's pizza
(we have such a busy day that I won't even have time to make pizza!)
Sunday - Chicken & Wild Rice soup, rolls
