What I am Price Matching at Walmart This Week

After looking through the ads, here is what I plan on Price Matching at Walmart. Remember that these are the items that will work best for my family. Take a look at the ads - there may be other items on sale that work for your family that I have not listed here. There are some good deals this week at Albertson's and Kroger, but I will be going to those stores instead of Price Matching.
Sprouts

~ Yellow Peaches or Nectarines - $0.47 per lb

~ Romaine, Red Leaf, Green Leaf or Iceberg Lettuce - $0.88 each

~ Green Bell Peppers, Green Onions or Bunched Radish - $0.49 each

~ Mangoes - $0.49 each

Tom Thumb

~ Cantaloupe - $0.99 each

~ Red or Black Plums - $0.88 lb

~ Oscar Mayer Deli Fresh Tubs - $2.49 each with in-ad coupon (you must present the Tom Thumb coupon to the cashier)

~ Nabisco Ritz Crackers or Crackerfuls - $1.99 each with in-ad coupon

~ Progresso Vegetable Classics Soup - $0.99 each with in-ad coupon

HEB

~ Bananas - 4lbs for $1

~ Strawberries - 1lb for $0.88 each

~ Russet Potatoes - 5lbs for $1.47 each

When Price Matching at Walmart, there are a few things to remember...

*They will not match Buy One Get One Free sales.
*They will not match % off sales.
*You must have the same product size, brand, etc.
*You can use coupons on items that you are price matching.
*Be organized and save your price matching 'till the end of your purchases. You don't want to overwhelm or confuse your cashier.
*Bring your ads, in case the cashier wants to look at them.
*You can price match all types of items, not just groceries.

Do you Price Match at Walmart? I would love to hear about your experiences!

Water Deal

Through Tuesday, July 19th, one gallon Ozarka waters are on sale for $0.50 each, when you buy in groups of 10 at Kroger! This is a great deal, as they are usually $1 each.

Water is the most basic necessity of life. It is the most important thing to stock in your "Home Store." If there was ever a situation when running water was not available, your stock of water would be invaluable!

How much water should you store? According to FEMA, you should store at least one gallon of water per person per day. A normally active person needs at least one-half gallon of water daily just for drinking.
Additionally, in determining adequate quantities, take the following into account:
•Individual needs vary, depending on age, physical condition, activity, diet, and climate.

•Children, nursing mothers, and ill people need more water.

•Very hot temperatures can double the amount of water needed.

•A medical emergency might require additional water.

Great Deal on Chicken!

This week, you can get Boneless, Skinless Chicken Breasts for only $1.49lb at Albertsons!

That is a great price to stock up on. I will be purchasing at least one 40lb box. My sister is coming to visit next month (SO excited!) and would like me to show her how to can chicken. This works out great, especially since I used my last jar of home-canned chicken last week. Canning chicken is really pretty easy!

I like to have different storage methods for the foods in my "Home Store." Let's take the chicken we are already talking about. I have 3 storage methods for chicken:

~Frozen - I keep chicken breasts in the freezer.

~Canned - I love having jars of home canned chicken in my pantry!

~Freeze Dried - Oh, yeah! This is the most convenient way to store chicken. It is already cooked, stays on my pantry shelf and is rehydrated and ready to eat in just a few short minutes! This is what I use when I am having a really crazy day and dinner needs to be fast. This helps to keep me out of the drive-thru.

Menu Plan Monday (Weight Loss Edition)

So, did you notice that this is a "Weight Loss Edition?" Yeah. We are definitely trying to eat healthier around here. I have weight to lose, so our dinners are reflecting that. When I am working to lose weight, I tend to stay away from simple carbs at dinner. I will eat most vegetables and whole wheat pasta, though. Feel free to chime in with any tips in the comments!

Monday - Hearty Veggie Soup (I will try to post this recipe sometime this week)

Tuesday - Spaghetti, green salad

Wednesday - Grilled Salmon, sweet potatoes, broccoli

Thursday - Chicken Tacos

Saturday - Hamburgers (I eat mine on lettuce instead of a bun), sweet potatoes, cauliflower, green salad

Sunday - Homemade Pizza for the kids & Lettuce Wraps for me

Hair by Terin

So, I just had my hair done (cut, highlights & style) by the fabulous Terin Sessions! She is amazing! She does great hair AND she charges hardly anything. (this is a combo that I love!) I thought I would share her info and prices on here, so that any of you in the area can take advantage of her greatness.

Please note that Terin does hair in her home (South Arlington) but is willing to come do a "hair cutting" party at my house if any of you are interested. I was thinking along the lines of pot luck lunch, chatting and taking turns getting our hair done. Doesn't that sound wonderful? Yeah, I think so, too.

Unfortunately, there is a down side to all of this...she is moving back to Arizona in only 8 short weeks. boo! But, let's use her while we can!

Here is the run down:

Cut - $20

Highlights - $50

All Over Color - $35

Cut & All Over Color - $50

Cut & Highlights - $65

Up-do's - $35

Make up - $20

Weddings - $125
-This includes, Bridal hair, make-up, complete trial run, morning of wedding and reception touch-up. Wow!

So, if you are interested, you can give her a call, email or text her. She is very texting friendly. :)

Free NOOK kids iPad app

I, personally, don't own an iPad. But, if I did, I would want some great apps on it for my kids. You know, to help my sanity. This seems like something that would work well for my family and, maybe, yours.
